An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and 10.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in summer 2025.
The legal representative continued: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC stated objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the man continued to conduct the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The legal representative stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the police a second time.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five children.
