Diving into an Unique Steam Demo: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have found numerous engaging indie games. However, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a protagonist that is truly a turd striving to navigate to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: just use a jump control. Across one hundred fifty stages, battle boss fights and visit a shop to acquire customizations for your dung hero.

Plan your movements with caution, since one error requires starting over. Jump on air pockets to hurl your character upward, cross fragile platforms, and activate switches to unlock hidden paths. Collect currency for buying tougher stages where things gets crazy.

Graphically, the game features eye-catching environments and catchy soundtrack. The simple art with shifting abstract forms evokes memories of gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

Although difficult to recall previous releases where you control a coiled turd, gaming often featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as plant food. And of course, such content is present heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, including taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the full game scheduled to arrive on computers this November.
